Over 30 years making history in the Cork Industry

In 2020, J. C. Ribeiro celebrates its 33rd anniversary. After three decades of exponential growth, the company continues to aim to respond to the adversities and challenges of the cork market, using its knowledge of the industry.

J. C. Ribeiro was founded in 1987 by Luís Ribeiro, who discovered a business opportunity in the Scottish market. At this time, there was a growing need in Scotland to return to using natural products and to abandon screwcaps in its whiskies. The main desire, in the late 1980s, was to start using cork stoppers with wooden caps.

The name J. C. Ribeiro is a tribute to the founder’s son, José Carlos Ribeiro, who was finishing his degree in Economics at the time and who soon joined the company, where he has worked practically since its creation.

In 1993, with a qualified and loyal client base and a solid team, the business began to expand. Until then, the operationalization process had been taking place in a small office, which was no longer able to meet production needs. Thus, in this year, a new plot of land was acquired and a factory was built to better meet the needs of its customers.

J. C. Ribeiro has always sought to be a differentiating company in the cork industry and, since its creation, has sought to dedicate itself to the production of high-quality corks and capsules, meeting the needs and preferences of the best premium spirits brands on the market.

One of the company’s main objectives is to meet the needs of the customer and build a lasting relationship based on mutual trust, where the customer knows what they can count on and that they will receive what they need and are looking for. Many of J. C. Ribeiro’s current customers have worked with them since its inauguration in 1987, with the company being their only supplier.

Thirty-three years after its creation, J. C. Ribeiro has surpassed the sales milestone of 100 million corks. This reference translates into the trust and preference of customers, which has been achieved for several years through the dedication and quality with which each of its products is developed.
